Who We Are How We Began Meet Our Spiritual Leaders Meet Our Founders
Awakened Heart Spiritual Center of Delaware is a place of celebration, healing and personal growth. We are an Independent New Thought/Ancient Wisdom Spiritual Center, rooted in Science of Mind
teachings, and built by people who are changing their lives by changing their way of thinking.
We are currently members of Affiliated New Thought Network,
Emerson New Thought Center and
Emerson Theological Institute.
Awakened Heart Spiritual Center (AHSC) began in January 2005 when Jane Bouza, Alice Casey, Rev. Dr. Kathleen Johnson, and Linda Patton felt the inner call to co-create spiritual community
using the Visioning Process as taught by Rev. Michael Beckwith of Agape International Spiritual Center in California.
They met weekly and used the Visioning Process to open to the Spiritual Prototype for this newly emerging community.
This led to the mission statement, vision statement, shared values and a brochure to invite others to join them in building community.
Rev. Dr. Kathleen Johnson Rev. Anna Marie Trotman
Dr. Kathleen is a visionary and transdenominational progressive. She delights in the awareness of the Oneness of Life, God's Presence and common thread of Spiritual Principle found
everywhere in all religions and spiritual teachings. Dr. Kathleen's spiritual leadership emanates from Divine Love and the ongoing and ever-unfolding Visioning Process.
Dr. Kathleen's heartfelt intention is to provide an atmosphere for maximum, authentic spiritual transformation and growth in the nurturing environment of spiritual community (AHSC).
Dr. Kathleen received a Bachelor's in Psychology and a Master's in Counseling from University of Delaware and worked for 10 years as an accountant and 15 years as a school counselor.
Since 1990, she has studied and practiced New Thought/Ancient Wisdom and Religious Science teachings. In 1993, she became a Licensed Religious Science Practitioner through the Pathways
Community Church.
In 1999- 2004, as a member of The Center for Conscious Living (CCL). she served as the Coordinator of Practitioners and facilitated the visioning process in the Youth Ministry, Music Ministry,
Healing Arts/Bodyworkers Coalition, Earth Ministry, Practitioners Core, and for the community as a whole. Believing in the importance of building extended spiritual family,
she and Rev. Carol Lawson initiated a series of visioning sessions for Ministers and Practitioners in the tri-state region from all three branches of Religious Science.
She entered Ministry School at CCL in Moorestown, NJ and received her Doctorate in Religious Studies. She was granted a certificate as a Religious Science Minister from Emerson Theological Institute
in November 2004.
Since January 2005, she has been immersed in the joy of the building spiritual community, aka Awakened Heart Spiritual Center, that is based on the Visioning Process, prayer, Divine Guidance, collaboration, and miracle upon miracle!
After a satisfying career in Cancer Research, Rev. Anna Marie started her spiritual journey in 1987 by taking classes in New Thought at Pacific Church of Religious Science, in San Diego, CA under the direction of Rev. Kathy Hearn.
She received her Practitioner License in June 1996 and went on to receive her Ministerial License in July of 1998 through Emerson Theological Institute. At the same time she took advanced classes in Comparative Religion at San Diego State University. She has been assisting and teaching New Thought classes since 1996 and began developing curriculum in 1998.
Rev. Anna Marie is currently on the faculty of Inner Visions Institute for Spiritual Development in Silver Spring, MD founded by Iyanla Vanzant. She has facilitated in week long intensive Spiritual Development and training programs in Maryland and at Omega Institute. Along with the other Institute’s faculty members she is dedicated and committed to the spiritual evolution of humanity.
As a Life Coach Rev. Anna Marie's philosophy is that we live effectively by integrating body, mind and spirit. She takes a holistic approach and compassionately guides her clients in the creation of an extraordinary life. This holistic approach brings together diverse elements of her clients life creating synergy and balance.
Rev. Anna Marie is committed to the growth and health of Awakened Heart Spiritual Center. It is her heartfelt intention to continue on her own spiritual journey, express her many talents, inspire the community and grow Awaked Heart Spiritual Center. It is her mission to be in sacred service and to "enrich as many lives as possible by supporting all individuals who are on their spiritual path".
She is available as a Practitioner for Counseling, Life Coaching, Wedding and Commitment Ceremonies, Baptisms and Naming Ceremonies, and Memorial Services

Jane Bouza has a Bachelor's of Arts degree from Ohio Wesleyan University and a Master's of Education degree from the University of Delaware.
In 2000, Jane retired from a fulfilling career as Coordinator of Special Needs for Christina School District.
Jane's curiosity about metaphysics began with the writings of Emmett Fox and extensive spiritual training in the Rosicrucian Order. Religious Science became a new interest after her daughter
sent her a subscription to the thought-provoking Science of Mind magazine. Synchronistically, Ernest Holmes, originator of the movement and the magazine, was also teacher
of Jane's birthplace hero: Rev. Norman Vincent Peale ("Power of Positive Thinking"). In 1997, Jane began Religious Science coursework at Wilmington Church of Religious Science
(Pathways Church). She completed Practitioner Training at Awakened Heart Spiritual Center, a satellite campus of Emerson Theological Institute, with Rev. Ian Taylor and Rev. Dr. Kathleen Johnson.
In November 2006, she earned her Professional Practitioner Credential from Emerson Theological Institute and Professional Practitioner License from Awakened Heart Spiritual Center.
Jane's interest in peace projects included distributing Peace Poles reading "May Peace Prevail on Earth", providing Peace Rugs for classrooms, co-facilitating peace study group, and starting
the Peace Ministry at AHSC. Jane also volunteers at Friendship House and provides workshops at Mary Mother of Hope. She is delighted to have been a co-director and one of the founders
of Awakened Heart Spiritual Center.
Linda has been actively studying New Thought philosophy for over twenty years. She was a charter member of the Wilmington Church of Religious Science and served on the board.
For many years she has been a participant in a New Thought study group, affectionately known as "Irma's Group".
She became a Reiki Master in 1996 and volunteered at the Wellness Community of DE, providing Reiki services to cancer patients. She has also participated in various Reiki sharing groups.
Her love of animals and art lead her to volunteer her time with several additional organizations.
She was a beginning member of Tri-State Bird Rescue, serving on the board as Treasurer and now volunteers for special events.
She has taught art classes at the Academy of Life Long Learning and currently is volunteering as a Senior Docent at the Delaware Art Museum and is chairperson of the tour aid committee.
Linda has facilitated groups using the spiritual book "The Artist Way" by J. Cameron. As a juried artist, Linda pursues her own artwork and exhibits in various art shows.
She has also taught modeling at the Barbizon School of Modeling, focusing on the inner self.
Linda was employed by Bell Atlantic Telephone Company serving as an Outside Plant Engineer and Long Range Planner.
Upon retiring from Bell, she returned to college and received a degree in Behavioral Science, an adjunct to her degree in Accounting.
She then contracted for six years with the State of Delaware in the Real Estate Department and during 2004 she was a liaison for the State with the residents of the flood damaged Development
of Glenville during the State buyout.
Always applying her New Thought ideas to all her activities, she has a passion to learn and grow. Linda is a Licensed Professional Practitioner and Treasurer of of the Awakened Heart Spiritual Center.
Linda loves to create, loves to interact with people, and loves to expand her awareness. She knows that spiritual community is here now, and perfectly unfolding. And how exciting is that!!
Alice Casey is thrilled to be a member of the C.O.R.E. Council of Awakened Heart Spiritual Center.
Alice discovered Science of Mind through the Wilmington Church of Religious Science beginning in 1998.
Alice's religious background is traditional Catholicism. At the same time, she has also been a long time student of world religions and spiritual teachings.
Alice has participated in numerous Core Energetic workshops, Holotropic Breath work, "The Work" of Byron Katie and Native American Ceremony and Practices.
She was a participant in the first offering of a course in Radical Forgiveness, which she calls "the birth mother" of Awakened Heart Spiritual Center.
She states that Religious Science is a clear and crisp philosophy with a high vibration of Unchangeable Truth.
Alice emphasizes the education component of Science of Mind (SOM) and its rich, life-enhancing curriculum that assists all who participate to remember who we truly are and to access our "Spirit - Power ".
Alice completed Science of Mind course work and in November 2006 became a Licensed Professional Religious Science Practitioner .
Alice retired in 2005 from Human Resource Administration with emphasis on Employee Benefits.
Alice administered benefit funds for more than 30 years with the Local Labor Unions and American Int'l Group.
Sally Orr, RScP, is an Honorary Founder of Awakened Heart and a Practitioner Emeritus.
Sally's devotion to the Science of Mind teachings of Ernest Holmes and her pioneer spirit are the reason that New Thought/Ancient Wisdom is thriving today in the Delaware area.
Rev. Dr. Carol Lawson, Rev. Sheila Pierce, Rev. Dr. Kathleen Johnson, and Rev. Dr. Jeanne Grayson are among the many former members of the Wilmington Religious Science Church
that Sally helped to found.
